Come and learn to Dye with Hannah Ginn from Circus Tonic

Join us and spend a creative day immersed in the world of hand dyed yarns with Hannah Ginn of Circus Tonic Handmade.

In a casual small group setting, learn all the tips and tricks of skein handling, colour mixing, matching yarns to different dye techniques, finding the perfect inspiration and translating your vision onto yarn all the way to presenting your creations to the world.

Whether it’s spectacular speckles or minimalist tonals that you love, superwash sock yarns or artisanal single flock yarns, we love it all and will cover the yarn industry from many angles all in the fantastic Kirchelly Textiles studio.

Dates: 17/05/2024 & 19/05/2024

Time: 8:30am – 4:30pm including 1hr lunch break. Lunch and afternoon tea will be provided.

Location: Kirchelly Textiles & Great Southern Yarn studio - Unit 5 / 23 Lake Road, Tuggerah

What to bring:

• Closed toe flat shoes
• No billowy sleeves
• Hair tie
• An inspiration picture / postcard / photo of a scene that you love etc
• Notebook and pencil / pen
• Water Bottle

You may bring an FO to over dye if it is approx. 1 - 2 skeins. Finished Object must be at least 75% wool, not cotton.

All other materials will be provided to you on the day. 

What you get to take home:

• Up to 100g of fibre dyed by you. 
• Personal items used on the day – gloves and face mask.
• Lunch and refreshments.
• Opportunity to have one on one time with Hannah to discuss, challenges of dyeing, mixing and creating colours and differences of fibre and how they respond.

NOTE: There will be opportunity to plan and purchase project quantities of fibre and dye kits on the day.

Note: Dying is a messy activity. We will provide appropriate protective wear including aprons, gloves, etc but there is still a likelihood that you may get dye on your hands or clothing. It is suggested to wear dark clothing that you are happy to get dye on it.

You are respectfully asked not to attend if you are feeling unwell.

The shop will be open during the workshop, so feel free to look around and plan your next dyeing experience! We are here to help if you would like some guidance.

Terms and Conditions 

By booking this Workshop you are guaranteed a spot.

If you need to cancel your spot on or before 9nd April, you will receive a refund minus merchant fees of $20.

If you need to cancel your spot on or before 16th April, you will be offered a 50% refund.  If the event is full and we are able to fill your spot,  you will receive the refund minus merchant fee of $20.

If you need to cancel your spot on or before 23th April, you will be offered a 25% refund.  If the event is full and we are able to fill your spot,  you will receive the refund minus merchant fee of $20.

If you need to cancel your spot on or after the 23th April, you will forfeit your full payment for the event.  If the event is full and we are able to fill your spot,  you will receive the refund minus merchant fee of $20.
